From Thursday, September 4th to Sunday, October 5th, minä perhonen presents its new collection, “FLAT FORM”, inspired by the traditional Japanese art of origami. Each design transforms from two dimensions to three, unfolding through the act of folding its pattern, like paper coming to life.

Alongside the new FLAT FORM collection,  a variety of items will be available for purchase, including interior pieces such as fabric boards, cushions and blankets, as well as handkerchiefs, water bottles, and other crafted essentials designed to complement everyday life.

In Finnish, minä” means “I”, andperhonen” means “butterfly”.
The name reflects a wish to craft patterns as light and beautiful as a butterfly’s wings.
Founded by Akira Minagawa, minä perhonen is a brand rooted in the gentle observation of nature and society.

Its textiles, created in collaboration with fabric-producing regions across Japan, are distinguished by designs inspired by natural landscapes and thoughtful perspectives.

Beginning with clothing and gradually expanding into interior design, the brand aspires to create items that grow more beloved over time, gently accompanying everyday life.

About minä perhonen

minä perhonen is a fashion and textile brand founded in Tokyo in 1995. Through delicate lacework, expressive prints, and intricate jacquard weaving, each textile begins with a hand-drawn sketch and unfolds into a world of imagination.
Crafted from thoughtfully chosen materials, these textiles are produced in outstanding factories across Japan and Europe—with whom the brand has built long-standing partnerships and mutual trust.

The philosophy of minä perhonen is to envision design as a bridge—connecting the joy of the maker, the wearer, and the wider society. Each creation, rich in imagination, is brought to life through mindful production methods and the thoughtful reuse of leftover materials, forming a gentle cycle with minimal impact on the environment. To ensure these designs remain cherished in daily life for years to come, a dedicated repairment supports their longevity—nurturing the life of each piece.
